'Fore' The Future
Golf and sustainability might not seem like an obvious pair, but there’s so much happening to make the game more eco-friendly. Every month, we’ll dive into some examples of how golf is embracing the environment and share how we’re applying those ideas to what we do at Stanners. It’s all about keeping the game we love sustainable—for the planet, the course, and future generations.
WM Phoenix Open
The WM Phoenix Open, held at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona, is renowned for its extensive sustainability initiatives, earning it the nickname "The Greenest Show on Grass." The tournament has achieved zero-waste status through comprehensive recycling and composting programs, utilisation of solar energy, and water conservation efforts. This year, organisers are enhancing their sustainability goals by introducing a fully electric fleet of course maintenance vehicles and expanding their refillable water stations to reduce plastic waste even further. These initiatives not only minimise the environmental impact of the event but also set a benchmark for sustainable practices in golf tournaments worldwide.
International Golf Federation's Partnership with GEO Foundation
In January 2025, the International Golf Federation announced a partnership with the GEO Foundation to enhance sustainability in golf. This collaboration aims to reduce the sport's carbon footprint and generate positive outcomes across key elements of sustainable golf, aligning closely with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. One of the key projects includes an industry-wide initiative to measure and offset carbon emissions from professional golf tournaments, with an emphasis on promoting biodiversity and increasing the number of eco-certified golf courses. Efforts will focus on carbon footprint reduction and promoting biodiversity, reflecting a significant step towards a more sustainable future for golf.
Partnership with Trees For The Future
At Stanners Golf, sustainability isn’t just a phase, it’s at the core of everything we do. From eco-friendly fabrics to ethical production, we’re committed to making a difference both on and off the course. That’s why we’re proud to announce our partnership with Trees for the Future (TREES), a regenerative agroforestry nonprofit dedicated to reforestation and sustainable farming solutions. For every sale we make, £1 will be donated to Trees for the Future, directly supporting their global reforestation projects by planting 3 trees at a time. But this partnership is about more than just planting trees, it’s about changing lives. TREES works with smallholder farmers across Africa, where food insecurity and poor nutrition have devastated rural communities. By shifting traditional farming methods to regenerative agroforestry, TREES helps families restore degraded land, increase crop yields, and build long-term food security. With every purchase, you’re not only investing in high-quality, responsible golf apparel but also in a greener, more sustainable future for communities around the world.
